TikTok content ideas for musicians

Are you struggling to make content for TikTok?

We have put together some content ideas from musicians in the Zebr community to give you some inspiration and help grow your TikTok!

1. Documenting

Documenting your journey gets your followers invested in your content and wanting to keep coming back again and again.

@josieproto has done this very successfully. She filmed an acoustic video of a new song nd placed text over video explaining what inspired her to write there song from her experiences at school. She later goes on to show to process of writing the song, recording and then releasing it to Spotify. The first video reached 550,000+ views and the song now has 100,000+ streams on Spotify.

People love following a journey, so document yours!

2. Duets

Using the Duet feature, you can collaborate with other musicians on TikTok! This is an amazing way to make new connections and grow your network. Simply find a video you like and press the "duet" button.

Check out this video by @madelinetheperson and @rileyylanez for inspiration.

3. Cover songs

You don't have to be a dancer to use Tiktok! The content on the platform has become much broader, and experimenting with live music performances can really pay off. Some live videos we have posted on Zebr's page have each reached over 350k views.

Doing covers is a great way to reach a new audience and fans of others artists.

@itsaziya_does amazingly creative covers on her page. She plays all the song parts and then loops them together using Ableton live or a Loop pedal.

4. Song requests

Tiktok have a great feature, where you can reply to a comment with a video. This is a great way to engage with your audience and reply to song request you fancy doing. (Press the video icon next to a comment)

@rubyofficial does this often! Check out her cover of "Blue Lights" by Jorja Smith, requested by one of her followers.

5. Educating

There are plenty of musicians on Tiktok looking to learn something new, so if you have a skill you can teach, then start educating them! This is a great way to engage with your audience and grow your TikTok following.

@liamkillenmusic's does many educational video on his page, about music production and learning how to use synths, like the SP404.
